Hurricane Forum Proceedings Available Online

JAN. 27, 2006 | A report of the Dec. 5 Rural Early Childhood Forum on Hurricane Recovery and Emergency Preparedness is now available online.

The report contains summaries of forum discussions on reconstruction, portability of child care subsidies for displaced families, mental health intervention, and future emergency preparedness.

“The forum was a preliminary, informal opportunity for interested governmental and nongovernmental participants in early childhood hurricane recovery to come together and share ideas,” Cathy Grace, Ed.D., professor and director of the Mississippi State University Early Childhood Institute, said. “We hope that publication of the proceedings of the forum will be helpful as we work together to promote greater emergency preparedness for early care and education nationwide.”
